Global E-Commerce
Replatforming
A deep-dive into advanced web development & headless architecture.
The Challenge
The client—a global luxury retail brand—was struggling with a slow, outdated monolithic commerce framework. During major seasonal sales, patient traffic spikes frequently crashed their server nodes, causing severe loss of conversions. Product page load times exceeded 4.5 seconds, and their manual checkout pipeline suffered from a high friction index. They needed a secure, highly scalable headless e-commerce store with instantaneous page rendering and internationalization support.
Our Engineered Solution
We decoupled their legacy monolithic stack and developed a custom headless e-commerce architecture. We used Next.js for the dynamic, server-side rendered frontend, hosted on a global Edge CDN for sub-100ms response times. The backend connects securely via GraphQL APIs to their commerce engine and ERP systems. A custom global checkout flow was built using Stripe Elements to support multi-currency checkouts natively.
- Architecture: Headless Commerce, JAMstack, Serverless API Routes
- Performance Metrics: FCP decreased from 3.2s to 0.4s (99/100 Google Lighthouse Core Web Vitals)
- Global Resiliency: Implemented Multi-Region Edge Caching capable of handling 50,000+ concurrent requests
The Results
The headless transition resulted in immediate business growth. Conversion rates surged by 28.5% within the first 30 days post-launch. Page load speed optimizations reduced cart abandonment by 18%, and the marketing department was empowered to deploy high-converting landing pages dynamically without writing a single line of backend code.
